Frequently Asked Questions

Q- Does Stamped Concrete look "Fake"?

A-You have probably seen stamped concrete in business office buildings and outdoor residential areas and not realized it was concrete. The color and texture techniques used by Cornerstone Concrete Design's trained professionals will absolutely amaze you.

Q- How is Stamped Concrete colored?

A-The concrete color can be applied to the surface using one of two different methods. The first method preferred by Cornerstone Concrete Designs is color hardener This method involves applying the color directly to the concrete after it has been placed. When using color hardener the strength of the concrete is significantly harder. The second method is integral color which is mixed directly into the concrete before it is placed. Using the integral color process all layers of the concrete are colored after than just the top layer.

Q- Is there a chance that the concrete surface could crack?

A-Cornerstone Concrete Design's installation process is a system designed for crack prevention. First, mechanically compacted base material is set as a foundation for the concrete. Then Wiremesh Steel Reinforcement and Polypropylene Fibermesh Reinforcement is applied in 100% of all concrete installations. This process virtually eliminates the chance of a crack occurring

Q- What kind of maintenance is needed for Stamped Concrete?

A-There are two options for maintaining your stamped concrete surface. Number one, no maintenance is required at all to maintain the strength and durability of the surface. A natural aging of the color will occur, which some clients find desirable. However, this can be solved and the natural beauty restored by resealing the surface. Cornerstone Concrete Designs recommends resealing the surface every 2-3 years.
